My daughter Xena was four days old, strapped to my chest in a baby carrier. I should have been napping.
Instead, I put on the Vision Pro. Look—I was on paternity leave and supposed to be bonding with my newborn, but I was also extremely curious whether I could actually code in this thing using AI agents.
The answer: surprisingly yes. Five floating windows suspended above my living room—all running a terminal app from the App Store, connected to a cloud VM. Each window a different session, a different context, all hovering in space while Xena slept against my chest through my ridiculous experiment.
The keyboard makes it viable. Touch typing in mid-air works because you're not looking at your hands—you're either looking at the floating terminals or glancing down at the tiny human strapped to you to make sure she's still breathing.
Was this the best use of paternity leave? Probably not. But it answered a question I'd been wondering about, and I didn't wake the baby, so I'm calling it a win.
